!!Please Note, The .PDF Editor option will only appear in PDF Documents and only available on the latest version of FileHound on the SaaS Platform!!

The PDF Editor function within FileHound allows users to manipulate documents conveniently. It enables tasks such as extracting pages, rearranging and rotating pages, deleting unnecessary pages, and splitting documents into separate PDFs. This feature is particularly useful for managing scanned documents or multiple pages that need to be organized.

The editor can be applied to documents in the user's inbox and those within document libraries. When extracting and splitting documents, the final result will be moved to the user's inbox for further processing.

To access the editor, simply open a PDF document within FileHound. Look for the 'Editor' option in the toolbar above the document within the document viewer.

When the editor is selected, a new window will appear with the document shown in front of you. There are a few options you can choose from within this menu. These are presented below:

Page Extract within Document

You can extract pages within the document by clicking on the pages that you would like to extract and clicking the tick icon to select the document. Once the page or pages are selected, these will be highlighted with a blue haze. The extract option can then be pressed in the top left of the editor menu.

When the extract button is pressed, a menu will appear asking you to confirm your choice of documents, what the document will be called and there is an option to remove the pages from the source documentation. Clicking extract will give one last chance before extract. The extracted document will then be moved into the inbox.

Rearranging the Document

To Rearrange the Document, hover over the document and there will be a movement icon in the middle of the document. You can then rearrange the document by holding the movement icon. clicking save at the top of the page will give you a successful notification.

Rotating the Document

You can rotate the document by hovering over the document and clicking the rotate option. The document will rotate 90 degrees at each click. Once the documents have been completed, click save.

Deleting a Page

To delete a page on the document, hover over the document and click the red bin. This will then delete the page.

Split the Document

The Editor also has the ability to Split the document into more documents if the originally uploaded document has been merged together with other pages that are not relevant or are not needed; the documents can be split during this process.

To Split a document, open the editor and press the split option on the top left side. This will refresh the screen and will now show a scissor icon next to each page which indicates where you would like the document to split.

The split can be used multiple times should the document need to be split multiple times. The use case for this is if there are multiple documents merged into a single document or if the document has multiple different pages that need to be split into separate sections and different Libraries in FileHound.

To Split a document, click on the Scissor icon after the document you would like to split, for example, in the image below pages 1-4 need to be split. The Scissor icon next to the 4th page is pressed and the pages are highlighted.

To split a document in the middle, follow these steps:

Option 1:

  • Click the scissor icon at the start and end points of the pages you want to split.
  • FileHound will generate two results on the right side.
  • The first result will contain the pages you originally wanted to split, highlighted in color.
  • The second result will be the remaining part of the document.

If you accidentally split the document in a way you didn't intend:

Click the red "x" next to the split you want to remove.

Option 2:

  • Use the range option on the right side of the document.
  • Select the specific range you want to split; only that range will be highlighted.

These steps make splitting documents in FileHound quick and easy.

  • After configuring the split, enter a filename for the new document.
  • Click the "Split" button located in the bottom right corner.
  • FileHound will prompt you to confirm the split.
  • Once confirmed, the document will be split, and the new part will appear in your inbox.
  • You can index the document in your inbox if needed.
  • If the document needs to be moved to another library, open it and use the "Move" button.

Splitting a Document multiple times

If you need to split a document multiple times:

  • Open the split menu.
  • Select the scissor icon multiple times as needed.
  • Each time you select the split option, the document will highlight in different colors and will appear on the right-hand side in the order the scissors were chosen.
  • Enter document names as required.
  • These splits will be saved in your inbox for further action.
  • You can choose to move them to a library or folder or keep them in your inbox for personal use.
  • Alternatively, use the range option on the right to specify pages to split, instead of clicking icons on the pages.

This method allows you to split documents as many times as necessary for efficient organiation.
